We had a truly memorable stay with our family hosts at this Zhangjiajie mountain home. We highly recommend staying inside the park as most of the time you will be moving through the many buses, lifts, and cable cars in reverse traffic and only rarely face standing in long lines. This location is central. What’s more, the host is from one of the few multi-generational families still on the mountain and offered us transportation when we might need it outside of normal operating hours and visit to his farm land. The host's wife cooked us generous dishes and stews from organic fresh produce, eggs, fish, and meat in traditional regional style. We enjoyed her dinner while watching the sun set over the mountains from the porch. One of the highlights was when our host drove us to watch a very dramatic sunrise (pictures do not do it justice). Nights are cool and quiet for good sleep and the mountain water is cool and fresh.
