We booked a standard double as we only wanted somewhere to have dinner and lay our heads to break 2 long journeys.  We were prepared for a 'tired' looking room and it was, in fact just that.  HOWEVER, both the room and bathroom were spotless; the bed absolutely huge with nice linens and the shower in the morning was spot on for temperature.  Service from beginning to end was fantastic and, though I didn't have it myself, my husband said the breakfast was excellent.    We travel both locally and internationally a lot and i rarely comment as many 4-5* hotels just go through the motions however, I wanted to give this hotel and team a well deserved shout out.  We shall certainly be back and recommend to anyone looking for a very good place to stay on the outskirts of York.

Hotel Reception has very good service. We are arrived at the hotel early but the reception also arranged hotel rooms for us, so felt that the hotel service was very good. For other thins is the hotel room is a bit older but the room is clean. Overall has good service and hotel. Thank you

We stayed here a few years before and really enjoyed our stayed so booked to come back for our anniversary. We were in the opposite side of the building this time and it was still delightful. We really enjoyed the separation of the bathroom from the bedroom with a little study area. The place was starting to get a little run down however. There was no handle on the toilet, and one of the bathroom lights didn’t work. Toilet roll was paper thin and the lights above the bed were perfect height for hitting your head when getting in and out of bed. Other than that though he we enjoyed our stayed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the restaurant food was delicious.

Nice country house style hotel conveniently close to York for Travelodge money (or less), but definitely a cut above. The room had an iron, ironing board and even a Corby trouser press!!
