I stayed in a single room right next to the lift. The lift was old, and its doors made extremely loud noises whenever they opened or closed. The soundproofing was very poor, and I could clearly hear people talking and walking outside my room. The loud banging of the lift doors would constantly startle me, both during the day and at night.
