We had the worst hotel experience in Hyatt Regency Malta. While my mum was taking a shower at the hotel room, the water suddenly stopped. We were told by the Front desk that it was something to do with the water pipe system and there was nothing they could do about it. My mum was coated in body gel at the time, and the situation was so chaotic. The rest of us also didn’t get to shower and had to go to bed in a body drenched with sweat. Not only so, the hotel door lock ran out of battery, and we could not enter the room with our room cards!! This is totally unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. Shouldn’t you at least check the door battery before letting guests to check-in to the room?
When we brought up the issues again to the Front desk while checking out, the manager Anna avoided speaking to us directly and simply relied on the junior staff to deliver her words. In the end, they only offered to pay for our transport fee (which costs only 15 euros) to the airport as a compensation for the horrendous experience we had during our stay, and the transport service they arranged was terrible. The license plate of the private car Anna arranged for us was different than the one she had told us. The driver said he had texted Anna and told her about the change, but we were not informed about it. We had to ask the doorman to call Anna to confirm if it was the car she booked for us. I booked this 5-star hotel hoping to provide a relaxing stay for my parents (both of them are above 60 years old) while traveling, but I am deeply disappointed by the experience in this hotel.
I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Malta from 22 to 28 May 2025, and it was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Hyatt property.
On the first night, the sink was completely blocked, making basic hygiene difficult.
While showering late at night, the cover of the shower knob kept falling off, and the water temperature was uncontrollably hot. I was nearly burned for over an hour and had no choice but to wash my hair in the sink and wipe the soap off with a towel. This was not only unsafe but humiliating—completely unacceptable for a so-called 5-star hotel.
I reported the issue and was promised a full refund for one night by the hotel manager. However, I never received a confirmation email, and now, days later, no refund has been issued. When I asked about it at checkout, the staff simply said, “We are a 5-star hotel, we don’t lie”—yet here we are with no follow-up.
Room service was painfully slow. I had to wait over an hour just to get a laundry bag and a toothbrush. For a brand like Hyatt, this is embarrassing.
Communication and service were inconsistent and dismissive, with staff appearing indifferent to serious guest concerns.
I have stayed at several Hyatt Regency properties before and expected a level of professionalism and care. Sadly, Hyatt Regency Malta has failed to meet even the most basic standards of safety and service.
I strongly do not recommend staying here unless significant changes are made. Guests deserve better.
I had really good time in Hyatt regency hotel.
Room was neat and clean.
They give me useful tips regaring travel around.
In additition, host who is called “Hoque” treated me kindly while I was waiting in the lounge.
I was impressed !

Enjoyable stay. Breakfast is the highlight. A more business feel to the hotel - great if you are avoiding too many kids! Pool upstairs nice - with lounger service with a buzzer. Club lounge not great - underground and completely silent (felt odd) maybe some music would help.
