Nice Japanese breakfast. Strategic location to get around Gokayama and Shirakawa. In front of the hotel is the biggest Gassho style house in Japan that has a long history of being owned by samurais and where the emporia family had visited many times and is considered a cultural heritage of Japan.. I would go back to this hotel because of its location.

The hostel is located approx. 30 mins away from Shirakawa, nice place to stay in warmer season. The shared bathroom located at GF floor and it is quite cold to get there from 1F guestroom. The room is close to the main street, it might not be easy for light sleepers. There are no restaurants nearby, you might need to reserve dinner if you are not driving. The host is nice and space is clean and tidy.

This place is the best for visitors who have their own transportation and would like to have an in-depth visit of the world-heritage villages in the area. It gives you a real feel of the ryokans in Japan. It’s spacious and comfortable, the food and service highly recommendable.
