We stayed here for two nights during July. I could not wait for the two nights to end. The place looks the part on the outside until we got to the room. It's outdated and revolting to say the least. The place is in desperate need of a refurbishment.
1. The mattress was well past its usable life with its springs sticking out.
2. The shower has no pressure, and neither does the bidet for the toilet.
3. The bed bases are torn.
4. There was visible residue from previous guests on a lot of surfaces.
5. The ceiling of the shower is covered in mold and has been poorly painted over.
6. The extract fan in the toilet is absolutely weak and the moment you turn on the shower the whole place clouds up.
7. The TV is miniature and probably 144p resolution. Its a torture to watch in the year 2025
8. The minibar hasn't been cleaned on the outside and inside.
Overall a poor experience.
I recently stayed at the Golden Tulip Hotel Muscat, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent—central, safe, and close to shops, restaurants, and the beach. It made getting around Muscat really convenient. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed and modern amenities. Staff were friendly and professional. Check-in and check-out were smooth and quick. The breakfast buffet was decent, with a mix of local and international options—though I would’ve loved to see a bit more variety day to day.

This hotel is strategically located close to the Avenues Mall. Attached to this mall (and closest entrance to the hotel) is Lulu Hypermarket -an amazing supermarket with local and international brands, and a fantastic bakery. This mall is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. However, you do have walk along the road as the sidewalk / footpath does not exist. But this is only for 300 metres. In fact you can get off the street, but it is gravel/ construction site, so you shoes will be messy. Uber and Grab do not exist in Oman. However, the hotel has two or three taxi drivers that will you take you anywhere. They use set rates, rather than a meter. For example Hotel to Airport run is 8 is Omani Rial (US $20). While this hotel is great for shopping, it is not the best for major attractions of Muscat. The main historical sites of Alam Palace, Ai Mirania Fort and National Museum is 21 kms from the hotel. About 10 Omani Rial is each way by taxi. However, there are very few hotels in this area, so most people stay in hotels near Malls in Oman. This is some form of Public Transport in Muscat, but it can be hard for tourists to use without changing to another bus or long walks. For example, the Royal Opera House is 10 kms from hotel. By using public transport this would require a 2.5 kms walk. The hotel rooms are quite spacious and feature comfortable lounge style chairs. The hotel is located near an expressway /motorway, but good soundproofing means this is not an issue. I was of level 3 and could just see the ocean in the distance (right) and the mall (to left). They do have ocean view room (more expensive higher up the building). The TV is very disappointing - small & old with fuzzy channels. Fortunately, the internet is great, so viewing most programs on the computer. The rooftop has great swimming pool and bar, but maybe a little too cold to swim with highs of about 22-23 C in winter. Staff at receptionist are very obliging. I can definitely recommend this hotel for shopping and good base to experience Muscat. However, as mentioned, it is long way from the major tourists attraction of the city and taxi is required.

I didn't like the hotel, they're poking their nose into your belongings, checking to see if they're still there, and if you don't spend the night in your room, they'll text you on WhatsApp and ask if you're still planning to stay with them, claiming that they've searched your room and haven't found any luggage.
When you say, "Yes, guys, I'd rather stay somewhere else, please refund the remaining days, and I'll move to another place," they'll tell you to move on, but they can't refund your money. This is the first time I've encountered such inappropriate behavior from staff.
Очень приятный отель, спокойная атмосфера, дружелюбный персонал. Достаточно вкусные завтраки, мы брали только их. Бассейн с живописными видами, особенно вечером. Близость к Оман Авеню Молл и Гранд Молл...., одним словом - рекомендую точно .
