The hotel was well-located and the staff were friendly, so overall we had a pleasant stay.
However, there were a few disappointing points. We booked a family room for six people for three nights, but we were actually given adjacent connecting rooms.
Also, the connecting room's key was not unlocked, so we had to ask someone to open it for us after we entered.
Amenities were not provided for the number of guests, so we had to ask for more.
No extra water or other amenities were provided on the second or third night, and trash had not been disposed of.
We stayed altogether three nights here. The hotel was converted from a historical building dated back to 1890s . We enjoyed the stay-included breakfast at Alluvial restaurant. It got charming vibe. the King Classic room we stayed is spacious consider it is in zone 1 of Melbourne. The hotel is in walking distance to many of the Melbourne city attractions we are even able to take some rest in the room in our planned city walking 訂房網站 in the middle of a very hot summer sunny day.
The bathroom provides Byredo toiletries which we like. However, the decor is a bit dated and need refreshing and we are not happy with the service level of the staff. For example, the phone handfree function is not working properly; the safe is according to the hotel "in the process of replacement" and not working either; the call to "Instant Service" for help often took more than 5-seconds ring especially during the night time. There is even a false fire alert during one of the morning time of our stay. I doubt it is a standard of Intercontinental hotel or a 5-star rated hotel.
For whom consider staying at this room type of this hotel, please note the windows is fixed and facing the hallway so the room has 1. no natural sunlight 2. no fresh air and 3. needs closing the curtains all the time if you prefer privacy. Another point worth noting is the bathroom floor is very slippery after bath, I would call it a death trap if you wear the one-off slippers that is provided in the room as you can easily get a slip and fall on the bathroom floor even for a grown adult.

The breakfast was probably the worst I had in a 5-star hotel. The variety was limited and the quality was bad, e.g. only 3 kinds of fresh fruits and the water melon looked pale. The bathroom was big but the shower place was so tiny. I tried to use the top shelf of the wardrobe. Luckily I used my hand to test if there was any dust. The dust flied right into my eyes when I used my hand to feel the cleaniness! The heat was so insufficient. Their house keeping staff was poor trained. I asked not to clean my room by hanging a sign on the room and turning on the Do the Disturb light. To my surprise, I went back to the room in the afternoon. The staff came in the room. Drew open the curtain. Turned off the Do not disturb. Did not do any cleaning but left me a note that they already cleaned my room according to the instructions! The hotel was also poor in maintenance. I finished breakfast (in the basement) and tried to go back to the room by the lift. The lift came but could not close the door. There was also a staff there and she advised me to take the steps to ground floor. I went to ground floor and only found another lift was out of service. They only had 3 lifts going to the rooms. Beisdes the location which is very central, I cannot thnk of anything to appreciate the experience.
