Extremely disappointing experience — serious concerns about hygiene and customer care
The property retained my **£200 security deposit** and pursued **more than £800 in additional alleged losses**,
I have made numerous hotel bookings through 訂房網站, and this was by far one of my worst experiences.
During my stay on 17 July 2026, I experienced symptoms consistent with bed bug bites and reported the issue to the property. I checked in at approximately 1:30 pm and first noticed a suspected bite or skin reaction at around 8:08 pm, only 6 hours and 38 minutes later. I subsequently sought medical advice and was assessed by a doctor as having symptoms consistent with bed bug bites, significant skin inflammation and an allergic reaction, for which I was prescribed medication.
What concerns me most is not only the suspected infestation, but how the situation was handled afterwards.
The property alleged that I or someone in my party MUST HAVE INTRODUCED the bed bugs. I strongly dispute this. The fact that an infestation is discovered or reported during a guest's stay does not, by itself, establish who introduced it, when it was introduced, or that the guest was responsible, WHICH THEY HAVE THIS CLAIM BEFORE ANY INVESTIGATION:)
I therefore requested objective evidence supporting their allegation, including professional inspection or pest-control records showing that the property was actually free from bed bugs immediately before my arrival, as well as evidence connecting me or my party to the alleged infestation, AGAIN, THEY FAILED TO PROVIDED ANY OF THE OBJECTIVE EVIDENCE SHOWING I / MY PARTIES INTRODUCED BED BUG TO THEIR ROOM.
I do not consider the absence of previous complaints or a previous guest not reporting bites to be equivalent to professional evidence that the property was free from bed bugs.
The handling of my health concern was also extremely disappointing. Instead of feeling that the priority was to assist a customer reporting a potential health and hygiene issue and properly investigate the source, I found myself having to defend against a substantial financial claim.
The property retained my **£200 security deposit** and pursued **more than £800 in additional alleged losses**, including pest-control, mattress-related and cancelled-booking costs. I have formally disputed these claims and requested an itemised breakdown and supporting evidence showing how these losses are connected to me or my party. HOWEVER, they REFUSE and STALL OF TIME in PROVIDING EVIDENCES TO ME :)
There was also a separate accommodation problem: THE FAN WASN’T WORKING AND the TOILET continuously FLUSHED/LEADKED throughout the night, CAUSING ONGOING NOISE and SIGNIFICANTLY DISTRUBING OUR SLEEP. HOWEVER, NO ANT COMPENSATION about that.
ore, my concerns are not limited to one isolated incident. They include the suspected bed bug issue, the condition and maintenance of the accommodation, the health consequences I experienced, the handling of my complaint, and the subsequent financial claim against me.
I am not accusing any particular staff member of introducing bed bugs, nor am I claiming that the timing of my symptoms alone proves when the infestation began. My concern is that I have been treated as financially responsible without, in my view, sufficient objective evidence establishing that I or my party introduced the infestation.
I am leaving this review so that future customers can understand the full circumstances and make an informed decision before booking. If you experience any hygiene or health-related issue here, I strongly recommend documenting everything immediately, including photographs, communications, the timeline of events and any medical evidence.
**For me, the most disappointing part was not simply the suspected bed bug incident, but the way a serious health concern was handled and the subsequent decision to pursue substantial financial charges against the customer while responsibility remains disputed.**
