We absolutely loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Having a house like this in the heart of Kyoto is a real privilege,everything is within easy reach. A Fresco supermarket is just a 3-minute walk away, along with restaurants and convenience stores, and Kiyomizu-dera is only about 20 minutes away on foot. The service was excellent. The person who welcomed us spoke very good English and gave us great recommendations for things to see and do around the area. As for the house itself, everything was nearly perfect. It is very well equipped, with a washing machine and dryer, kitchen utensils for cooking your own meals, and plenty of bath towels for the entire stay, making it easy to be fully independent. Regarding the bedding, the bed in the bedroom with Western-style beds was a bit firm, but the futon room was extremely comfortable. The heated floors were a wonderful feature, keeping the whole house warm and cozy. If we had to do it again, we would definitely stay longer! Small downsides: No humidifier (we really needed one, as the cold weather and heating dried out our skin) Some street noise in the futon bedroom The bath water doesn’t get quite hot enough for a very hot soak, although the shower works perfectly fine
