First impression was okay. The man who runs the place seemed nice. I was happy to see he provided regular coffee beans which you have to grind yourself. But it was not replenished where the container was empty. It is possible to do your laundry at this place.

I decided to return to the guesthouse because the owner dude seemed friendly and I liked the vibe, so I thought I would try again. Instead of "Welcome back", he said "you came back".
Maybe a minute after checking in and sitting at the long table, the owner was sitting next to me. I was hesitantly asking something about Hualien. In response, he had the guts to lecture me about work and life. Someone who is older than him. He said, "people come here for travel, and I am trying to make a living". Obviously he is trying to make a living charging 500 TWD even on a Sunday. There is a respectful way to tell a guest he needed to concentrate on business matters. Everybody knows people cannot always talk. A professional and smart person knows to communicate this differently.

Great jump off point to Taroko, but also as an experience by itself. Has recommandations for the city, games, good vibes.
