Overlooking one of Edinburgh’s prettiest private garden squares, Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square consists of seven inter-connecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town. Our beautiful bedrooms and suites are inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality. Sitting proudly in the middle of the hotel is The Garden bar and restaurant, an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. Light and bright during the day for breakfast and lunch, transforming in to a fairy-lit hideaway in the evening for cocktails and dinner.BABA restaurant is a sumptuous, relaxed journey to the Levant, featuring mezze, charcoal dishes and small plates with bold Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours perfect for sharing. Cocktails take on the adventurous flavours to continue the journey until late in the BABA bar.The Spa at Principal is the place to relax, reenergise and rejuvenate. Treatments use natural, organic ingredients, with products by OSKIA and ishga skincare ranges. Guests can make use of Intenza Fitness cardio equipment and Impulse strength stations along with free weights, fitness studio and a designated stretch and core space. Heated relaxation rooms and use of the pool, sauna and steam room are also available.

I have travelled extensively and stayed in a plethora of hotels around the world and the Kimpton Edinburgh is by far one of the very worst hotels. Undoubtedly the most overpriced, disappointing hotel I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. One expects slightly more from a room @£560 a night than a dingy room with a very small window that hardly opens, a small double bed, backing onto a noisy alley. When opening the window the room quickly filled with exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke. The aircon kept turning the temperature up no matter how many times you turned it down, which in the current heat (19 July 2022 30°+) made it impossible to sleep. The bed was rock hard, the pillows... I have no words and the bed linen so scratchy my elbows and heels feel tender.
I honestly have nothing good to say about this hotel, I can with certainty say I will never return!
Do yourself a favour and stay away!
