The Essex Golf & Country Hotel is situated in a lovely area very well suited for a retreat however the facilities need to be updated to give a fresh look. The rooms are just okay however premier inn plus rooms give a more luxurious feel. There was not even one bottle of water in the room. These little things are what make one's stay memorable

Lovely modern room. Great wet room. We run out of toilet paper and no other left in room. Bed was very comfortable. Hairdryer, iron and dressing gown in room.  Hotels fire alarm definitely worked as got woken at 7am to evacuate building. Security were very quick to sort issue, guest had lit candle in one of the rooms. Used the swimming pool steam room and spa which was free.  Good variety of food at breakfast with good view of surrounding grounds. Big car park free of charge
