巴淡島雪梨大酒店 (Grand Sydney Hotel)

The hotel's entrance changed when its name changed to Grand Sydney Hotel from Sydney Hotel, so Grab drivers will stop outside at the old entrance. The nearby Food court has also closed down; the nearest eatery is more than 2 km away. The room is OK, but the food is a bit expensive.

The hotel everything are good and the service also, it just that you need to ask for a good window view if not your room will be facing the opposite room window. If you are not the choosy type this hotel is truly not bad. Gym is new and swimming pool are clean. Breadfast above average.

I don't even know how to begin... overall, the service staff were very friendly. We knew the hotel was old so we were expecting the worst but got a newly renovated room instead and that was nice. But the renovation felt incomplete with a number of issues / poorly done, and weird things like a very very rusty shower soap rack (because it's clearly newly renovated, why is it rusty???). Amenities wise there's a hair dryer, 2 bottles and complimentary coffee and tea packets. Nothing in minibar. Room was spacious, but the safe was spoilt and way too small (barely can keep iPad level small). There's only one door lock and no extra chain lock on the door. I mean I didn't feel unsafe unsafe but at the same time I knew it was not really safe. The water turned a bit brown for about 3 minutes the first night (we suspect rust?) but didn't appear any more after. Drainage was okay but can be improved. Towels were stained and bedsheets not pristine. It's beside a school, so expect some noise if your staying in the morning on weekdays. There was also an air freshener in the room that went off every hour (literally every hour throughout the night) but I'm pretty 100% sure there was nothing in the air freshener. The weirdest part was the outside of the hotel - not the hotel property itself but the road leading up to it. It seemed completely abandoned and like it could collapse anytime. Overall - would not stay again but if no other choice, can make do. Paid about $160 for 3 nights.

Room is spacious and near to Ferry Terminal

It was a hotel opened during Covid pandemic. A very spacious lobby with only the Reception without any shops or cafe. Only a call-in massage service sign. The masseur will come from offsite location. After hotel registration, my room electronic door was not working and I need to change to another room. Standard room setup. There is no toilet paper roll in Toilet. The WIFI is not stable. There is a food center next door but was not open in the daytime. Handful money changers and convenient shop nearby. Did not.have hotel.ferry service to malls or places of interest.

Can see that it's meant to be a classy hotel. But it has been poorly maintained, most probably due to the covid restrictions resulting in poor business. Overall, I would consider it's a fair price to pay for the stay
