We always stay at Rothay Garth when we go to Ambleside.  Hotel is comfortable, clean and they serve a good breakfast. The staff are friendly and polite. Free parking is a bonus in Ambleside

We stayed overnight just before Christmas as we were attending the funeral of a close friend. Despite the circumstances we had a a great overnight stay, with a very comfortable room and a lovely breakfast the next morning. Joanna our host was very friendly and attentive making sure we had everything we needed and provided us with tips on the local places to eat out for dinner. We hope to return to Ambleside in 2026 under better circumstances and would have no hesitation in staying here again.
